All previous Officials and athletes attending this event have enjoyed the experience and benefited in many ways – While athletes and officials joining this group have not always been experienced, TBAQ have found that all have stepped up to higher levels in the sport after attending. TBAQ encourage you to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant should –

1 Join experienced Team leaders to attain international experience.

2 Enhance the skills and levels of excellence in the current team that is already on display
by bowlers who have gained a place in previous Queensland Talent ID International
teams.

3 Impact a positive attitude towards ambassadorship and winning for team members.

4 Together with the Lead Coach and Manager arrange all attendances of the group you
are assigned to attend all breakfast meetings, practice sessions and Squads booked

5 Be aware that the team including coaches and managers will be required to wear the
uniform as provided.

6 Have obtained a copy and clearly understand the TBA Member Protection Policy and
the TBA Coaches/Managers Code of Ethics, Tournament rules –
regulations/requirements. (Available on either the TBAQ or TBA website)

7 Be responsible for all aspects of behaviour, conduct, standard of dress of the team
members assigned to you.

8 Assist with snack preparation and support services.

9 Be prepared to submit a written report to Team leaders to be included in the Team report
within 4 weeks of returning from the International Tour tournament – a template will be
provided.

10 Be required to address any written complaints received together with Team leaders
regarding any situation that occurs in reference to the athletes or coaches/managers’
performance in relation to the responsibilities and code of conduct while coach/manager
of the team.

Please note this trip is SELF-FUNDED. Costs can be reduced by fundraising.

DUTIES OF TEAM MANAGERS
Managers must provide evidence of the following certifications
• TBA registered member
• TBA State Team Managers Accreditation
• Blue card (Qld)
• Must have a current passport
• Be in good standing with TBAQ and TBA

MANAGERS ROLES – Managers will be assigned athletes in the group to manage

➢ Liaise with Lead Coach and Manager at all times to relation to Budget and Duty of Care of those travelling with us.

➢ Support fully the policy to all athletes – it is forbidden to go outside the Sunway Shopping centre without adult supervision (accommodation and the Bowl are situated within the Sunway shopping precinct).

➢ Within the Shopping centre juniors must travel with an adult or in groups of three – no one is
permitted to travel by themselves at any time. Hotel concierge will provide maps of the shopping
centre precinct to assist team members and team members need to also carry with them the card
of the accommodation house to assist those who may lose their way.

➢ Be familiar with the schedule of events at the Championships that Team members may be
competing in.

➢ Register added events (ensuring event is paid prior to booking) and update any changes in booked bowler schedule as per registered schedule (paid in advance) and ensure that all events have been covered in the budget.

➢ Ensure athletes attend team meetings prior today’s event every morning with the Team leaders at the free breakfast provided with room bookings. Discuss any items with the team and the coach at these meetings as required. Create a spreadsheet of events so that reports can be compiled at the
end of the event and day to day reports of note are handy for times they may be called upon.

➢ Attend the Team Managers meeting and other information sessions critical to team briefing with the Team leaders immediately after the meeting with athletes. Include statements of note as necessary to players at briefing meetings in the morning.

➢ Be responsible for the availability of all team members where their presence is required in fulfilling team responsibilities or other commitments. Distribute the schedule of meetings to keep to the smooth running of the team. Reminders should be given to the team prior to the meeting as necessary. Attempts to provide a tourist day for athletes and supporters to see Malaysia highlights will be organised.

➢ As required provide teams with all contact numbers of other Officials, and players, and
accommodation, medical centre, hospital, accommodation, bowling venue and addresses. All
contacts are confidential and TBAQ and TBA privacy policy applies.

➢ Collect signed code of behaviour forms, have medical forms on hand at all times and have parent contact details of all players. Full register of travel insurance of each player/and support personelle is required.

➢ Provide all players in writing code of behaviour for teams.

➢ There is a budget for Organised meals and drinks and what is available during days of tournament. Grocery stores are situated a level below Sunway Mega Lanes.

➢ Each player without exception should be drinking one litre of fluids each 3 games. Keep note of each player’s intake – and report to the coach any player not drinking the minimum requirement.

➢ Take as many team photos on and off the lanes to create a documentary of the trip – all photos
pooled to create a montage post the event.

➢ Bowling storage is available for bowling equipment at the venue players will be given a ticket when storing balls to reclaim their bowling gear when required.

➢ Ensure score sheets and any paperwork required by the tournament organisers are correctly
completed and presented on time. – keep an independent copy of results and copy results for the
coach for checking purposes. Take a photo.

➢ Liaise with other coaches and assist them at all times.

➢ Submit a written report to the Lead Coach/Manager and copy the TBAQ State Office within 4
weeks of return from the tour – your report will be included for future planning processes

DUTIES OF TEAM COACHES
All State Coach nominees must provide evidence of the following registration and qualifications:
• TBA registered member
• Current USBC Silver/Bronze level accreditation
• First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Blue card if applicable
• Must have a current passport.

Documentation must be provided to the Committee upon acceptance of the position. The
appointee cannot join the tour until copies of evidences as above are provided to TBAQ
(photocopies accepted).

The Coach will be given names and contact information of all the players they will be overseeing
in the team by the Lead coach, Managers will have parents and guardians contact details
should they be required.

The Committee will provide the Coach with contact numbers of other team members so the
Coach can discuss any matter of concern during preparation and also while away on tour.

All contacts are confidential and TBAQ and TBA privacy policy applies.

Roles of the Team Coach:
➢ Provide a safe and Injury free training and competition environment by addressing all
duty of care issues.

➢ Together with the group manager assigned, arrange athletes to be available for any
practice and squad sessions and, in conjunction with the Lead manager, communicate
any changes of these arrangements to the Tournament Team leads.

➢ Prior to departure – Where distance is an issue arrangements will be made for lead
coach to attend Zoom meeting with lead coaches of each the athletes or the athlete
together with standards to be reached identified and a practice with purpose plan
reported

➢ Liaise with Lead team managers and the committee executives frequently to ensure that
all committee requirements and budgets are being adhered to.

➢ Arrange for a check of all bowlers’ equipment and accessories prior to travel

➢ Approve, supervise and, if necessary, veto all activities that may interfere or react with
peak player performance while in preparation and while away at accommodation and
also at the Sunway Mega Lanes.

➢ Support fully the policy to all athletes – it is forbidden to go outside the Sunway Shopping centre (accommodation and the Bowl are situated within the Sunway shopping precinct).

attendance for all players and team at buffet breakfast (supplied at no charge with
accommodation bookings) of the days of competition with overview of day ahead and
positive debrief of the period of time prior to the day.

➢ Reporting requirements: the team coach should diarise each days activities and do a
summary report to the committee on, preparation, the event itself, players’ conduct and
performances and debrief of the group they are assigned.

➢ Submit a written report to the Committee of your experience with a copy to TBAQ State
Office within 4 weeks of the Teams return from the Tour.

Queensland Sport Awards 2022

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thank you to all those that attended and viewed the 2022 Sport Awards held at the Mercure at the beautiful Sunshine Coast on the 13th of August 2023. We thought we would highlight further winners and nominees through the coming weeks in more detail and this week we will celebrating the achievements of winner Tamkia Pettigrew and finalist Jackson Buckingham.

Junior Athlete Star of the Year.

Tamika Pettigrew- Winner 

Tamika had a fantastic 2022 finishing 3rd overall in the national junior rankings, she finished 1st in the Queensland Junior Cup, 1st in the SQ zones, she was a member of Australia Green and Gold to win the New Zealand national youth championships, Logan City Junior Masters winner, she finished 3rd in the grand national youth eliminator, and she was apart of the Gold Medal South Queensland President’s Shield team.

  • Tamika finished 3rd in the SA Junior Cup
  • She was a member of the all-star team in New Zealand
  • Tamika was the TQI championships masters winner.

Jackson Buckingham- Finalist

Jackson had a wonderful year in 2022:

  • Placed 8th in Logan City Tenpin Cup
  • Played for the boys Queensland President’s Shield Team averaging 209.9.
  • Played in the TBA21 cup finishing 2nd with a 230.1 average.
  • Played for the Green and Gold Australia team with 3 events in New Zealand

Jackson won gold and broke the U21 New Zealand Nationals doubles record with Jackson bowling a 733 series. Jackson would take home a silver medal in the U21 teams division and broke another team record which has been standing since 2007. He was also awarded a spot ion the all- star team.

  • To finish the year Jackson was voted the 2022 Parent Player of the Year by the Logan City Tenpin parents.
